I admire initiative
I don’t mind if someone fails spectacularly, as long as I understand the concept from the get-go
Take Logan Campbell, a New Zealander who participates in Taekwondo and dreamed of representing his company at the Olympic Games.
I imagine taekwondo in New Zealand is like taekwondo in Canada, practiced by the dedicated few, ignored at large by the masses, including the corporate world.
So in order to fund his Olympic Dream for the 2012 London Games, Campbell opened an ” escort agency ” and lo & behold he managed to secure a spot on New Zealand’s games team.
Campbell called his operation “a high-class” agency, and it must have been since he generated close to the $250,000 he believed he needed to compete internationally
There is a happy ending and a sad ending to this story
The sad ending; he sold the agency after the fundraising move was criticized by Taekwondo New Zealand and the national Olympic committee.
The happy ending is he made New Zealand’s team and through the media got companies funding taekwondo
In the 60 kilogram taekwondo category at the Olympic Games, Logan Campbell is the man to watch.
And if you’re ever in New Zealand and need a date, I think he’d be a pretty good guy to know
I’m Fred Wallace
