In a small city, it’s hard to keep a secret.
Based on recent activities, it’s apparent the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars are laying the groundwork in a bid to host the 2013 Canadian Senior Lacrosse Championship Tournament for the Presidents Cup.
The Presidents Cup has been hosted at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre in 2003 and again in 2007 and in both cases, the event was either a success or highly successful from every regard- the determining factor really is how well the home team did.
The Hometown NorthStars have done the initial leg work, dealing with the city and the Attack whose OHL Training Camp would be shuffled to accommodate the tournament which is now firmly set for late August each year.
If, and it’s expected they will, the NorthStars get approval from the various parties, they’ll submit their bid to host the 2013 Presidents Cup in March to the Ontario Lacrosse Association who would then forward it to the Canadian Lacrosse Association.
And while they’re working towards hosting the 2013 Presidents Cup, the NorthStars are busy preparing for the season ahead.
The schedule is just about finalized, it appears Owen Sound’s first home game will be May 26th.
In other preparation activities, the NorthStars will be examining their rivals protected lists and they’ve also set their annual NLL trip date to see the Toronto Rock host the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday February 18th.
