Almost a dozen people will be inducted into the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame this Spring.
The official tally is 11; 6 athletes, 3 builders and two inductees based on lifetime contributions to sport in the city.
The athletes represent a wide range of activities- the most common sport being lacrosse, where John Campbell and Bob Hamley will be inducted.
After that ( alphabetically ), champion distance runner Jerry Bouma, hockey goalie Casey Gray, majorette champion Deborah Killing & Olympic rifleshooter Jackie Terry will round out the field of athletes
The builders to be inducted in May are prominent names in various pursuits; Clarence “Flea” Christie, Earl Georgas & Howie Traynor
The final inductees in the Special Merit category will be journalist Bill Dane and prominent construction owner Harold Sutherland, who has been a huge supporter of Owen Sound entries for decades.
The induction ceremony will be Friday, May 11th at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Tickets are $ 25 apiece and are available from the Sports Hall of Fame committee members.
