In a little more than a week, two local hockey players will be among those competing in the first ever Central Canada All Star Challenge.
The Challenge is a 4 league, 8 team, all star competition that runs from December 27th to the 29th at Smiths Falls, Ontario
Blake Forslund of Owen Sound will be on Team North while Myles MacLean of Saugeen Shores is on Team East.
It’s interesting to note that both Forslund and MacLean are the top scorers on their respective teams.
Forslund, who plays for the Orangeville Flyers has 17 goals and 37 points on the season.
MacLean, a draft pick of the Oshawa Generals, is with the Trenton Golden Hawks and leads that squad with 22 goals and 38 points.
For the Challenge, All-star teams from the CCHL, the OJHL, the QJAAAHL and the NOJHL play a unique round robin tournament which will feature 8 teams overall.
Two divisions of 4 teams will play a round robin schedule on December 27th and 28th
On the 29th, the top two teams in each division will play a cross-over semi-final with a championship game for the two winners later in the day all under the watchful eyes of scouts from various levels of hockey.
Forslund’s team and MacLean’s team will not meet in the round robin, but it is conceivable they could face each other sometime on the 29th
