I stopped by the Owen Sound Attack offices yesterday and made a startling discovery in the back room; a ” Panic Button “.
Interestingly enough as we approach the quarter pole of the season, the Panic Button was covered in dust, which indicated to me it hasn’t been pushed, nor has there been the temptation to push it.
Make no mistake, the Attack aren’t thrilled with the start, sitting with 6 wins and 13 points after 15 games.
There’s no doubt there are performance issues in many aspects of their game, so while there are no fingerprints on the Panic Button, using fingers to assign blame is also pointless.
Name a segment of winning hockey and the Attack have come up short, but the belief here is that the Owen Sound club is capable of better, so there’s no need to panic.
Over the course of 15 games, Owen Sound has seldom been outskated, rarely been outshot and I can’t think of one game in which they were thoroughly beaten or dominated.
Of course that could change this weekend with a game tonight at London against the CHL’s # 1 team, the Knights, followed by home games against a very balanced Oshawa team and then for good measure to conclude YET ANOTHER 3 in 3, the Attack host Windsor Sunday afternoon.
Regardless of the outcome this weekend, I think the Attack Panic Button will remain dusty.
