A 53 year old Owen Sound area man has been sentenced to six years in jail for causing the death of a teenage girl.
The sentence was also for Ron Smith’s convictions of other sex and drug crimes.
Smith pleaded guilty in June to criminal negligence causing death by providing alcohol, marijuana and morphine to Arlene Stratton.
In August, Smith pleaded guilty to 26 more charges of drug trafficking, sexual assault and sexual interference involving a 14 year old girl.
The families of the victims vowed outside the courtroom on Wednesday to argue against any early release at parole board hearings.
The court heard Smith lured young teenaged girls to his Big Bay home and provided alcohol and drugs and sometimes sexually assaulted them.
Stratton died in May 2009 after she was found without any vital signs in that home after a drug overdose.
Smith also received a lifetime firearms ban and an order to submit a sample of his DNA to be kept on file.
