The weekend is here and there are all kinds of local sports activities on the go.
Among them will be the year end awards party hosted by the Owen Sound Quantum Properties Woodsmen of the Ontario Senior Lacrosse league.
The Woodies had a solid season, finishing second to Norwood in the regular season, and then advancing to the Ontario Championship series before losing in 6 games to the St Catharines Saints.
All things considered, in what was a transitional year on the floor, behind the bench and at the executive level, the results weren’t perfect, but ultimately pretty satisfying.
And so tomorrow the Woodsmen look back, saluting their season and top performers at the awards day and also look forward with great optimism.
It’s expected that the formal announcement will be made tomorrow that Quantum Properties is retuning as the club sponsor which is a dramatic change from 12 months ago when a sponsor void existed and forced the executive to seek a major sponsor in short order.
Make no mistake, Quantum Properties support is vital to the Woodsmen, and the Woodsmen certainly hope the profile they provide for Quantum Properties is high.
Furthermore, there’s something else in the works, a major announcement by the Woodsmen that’s designed to make significant off-season news.
We don’t what that announcement is, so we’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
I’m Fred Wallace
