I can’t make the Tara Fair this year.
For the first time in 3 years, I have to pass on the harness races set for tomorrow.
Since Frank Salive departed for the warmer announcing climate in Florida, I’ve done the annual races at the Tara Fair and I’m disappointed to be missing the experience this year.
One, it’s a blast.
And two, it’s a nice perspective on how good Frank Salive and now Chris Allen are at the mic at Hanover Raceway.
Speaking of Hanover Raceway- I miss that too.
Sure it was a busier than normal race season at Hanover with dates shuffled forward to accommodate the construction of the new hall at the facility.
But now, less than two weeks after completion, I think I’d like a nice night at the track.
While certainly crammed, Hanover Raceway also produced some tremendous racing moments this year.
The annual Dream of Glory Final again packed them in, highlighted by a dominating performance by Traverse Seelster who won the $ 100,000 Final.
The Balanced Image Final, though less prestigious in terms of purse money, will likely be better remembered as Strike The Cheque & Keystone Orion finished in a dead heat
Plus, there were a number of track records bypassed on the year including those turned in by Secret Weapon & Exquisite Alberta that were well south of 2 minutes for the mile at Hanover.
A good horse racing season in these parts technically concludes tomorrow at Tara, and I honestly, I miss it already.
I’m Fred Wallace
