The new family medical clinic in Thornbury is now open for business.
An Official Opening ceremony was held on Saturday.
Fundraising chair Wayne McFarlane says about 200 people were on hand to celebrate the opening of the facility.
4.5 million dollars is being raised to help pay for the new clinic in Thornbury, and one still to be built in Meaford.
McFarlane points out no Federal or provincial money is going into the projects, but the Town of the Blue Mountains donated 350 thousand dollars.
The good news is two doctors have already signed up to join two doctors already working in Thornbury, and McFarlane says they are negotiating with another.
Those two new doctors were at the opening, and once they start their practices McFarlane says they will be full quickly because over three thousand people in the area do not have a doctor.
The fund raising chair says the new facilities will be known as “Community Family Health centres”, in Thornbury and Meaford.
