The Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior Championship Final resumes tonight in Owen Sound.
The Quantum Properties Woodsmen host the St Catharines Saints in game 5 of the Championship final for the Clare Levack Trophy with the series tied at 2 wins apiece.
Both teams have had their moments; good & bad- sometimes the Woodsmen have had the upper hand, & sometimes St Catharines gets on a roll, which has made this a pretty compelling series.
It’s been compelling for a variety of other aspects that deal more with gamesmanship than the game.
Last week, we mentioned the scheduling fiasco whereby Game 2 in the series was a midweek affair.
Further to that, there is a claim out there by the Saints that the Woodsmen are spraying water at the base of the St Catharines players bench so that the Saints have been dealing with slick footing when they hit the floor.
And not to be outdone, during a skirmish behind the Owen Sound net in Game 3, the stick of a Woodsmen was fire-laddered 100 feet, ended up in the St Catharines bench where somebody cut the web and guts out of it before getting it back onto the surface.
Okay, real or imagined, these episodes are petty, maybe childish, but they have certainly added a unique flavor to the OLA Senior Lacrosse Final which resumes tonight at 8:30 at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore.
