We talked earlier this week about racing- auto racing- with Kenny Wallace making an appearance at Sauble Speedway.
Of course tomorrow, Sauble Speedway and Varney Speedway have more auto racing while Hanover Raceway conducts their Heritage Day in harness racing.
But in a switch, the biggest race, if not the most gruelling will be contested on the Bruce Peninsula with the initial multisport event set to go from Cabot Head to Wiarton.
The Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race, for long course competitors, is 100 kilometres and kicks off at 6:30 tomorrow morning.
The short course event commences at 8:30 and the Kids race is set for 1 pm.
What is multisport racing ?
In a nutshell, it is both a grind and a rush for the racers who trek, moreso than run, and combine their footwork with both cycling and kayaking elements.
By the organizers count, more than 100 people will compete on trails, roads, private property and make their way to Bluewater Park in Wiarton for the big finish.
So at least one Saturday, Sauble, Varney & Hanover will be overshadowed by the 100 kilometre Bruce Peninsula Multisport race tomorrow.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
