Fastball enthusiasts have their pick of two very prominent tournaments this weekend; one in Wiarton, the other in Owen Sound.
At Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound, the 4 team Eastern Canada ISC Travel League Playoff Tournament is being staged.
Both Owen Sound entries, the Verge Investment Senior Selects and the Brick Brothers Volkswagen Junior Selects, are in the field and in fact will open the tournament at 10 am Saturday in a head to head matchup.
The Port Elgin Blue Devils and Jarvis are the other teams at the event which has a round robin format Saturday followed by the semifinals on Sunday morning & the Championship game Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
Meanwhile, the O.A.S.A. Midget Championship Tournament is being contested at Wiarton Saturday & Sunday with 8 teams competing.
Play starts Saturday morning at 9 am, followed by the Opening Ceremonies and then, in an early highlight, the host Red Devils will face the Owen Sound Midget Selects.
The games will be primarily at Bluewater Park with a few games staged at Dan Davidson Park, all leading to the Championship Game Sunday afternoon at 1 pm in Bluewater.
Plus, the annual Tom Simms Tournament goes at Croft Athletic Field in Meaford Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
Owen Sound or Wiarton or Meaford. Or all of tem. Significant fastball action ahead this weekend in the region.
