Major League Baseball resumes tonight after the All Star Break which gave the sport the chance to celebrate their best, establish a World Series homefield advantage & give the bulk of the Major Leaguer’s a break.
And while the ballplayers have been relaxing, it’s been quite the opposite this week for Kincardine golfer Taylor Schmidt
Schmidt, who finished second at the recent Investors Group Ontario Women’s Amateur at Guelph will make at least three different stops this week.
When we caught up to her, she was manning the Pro Shop at Kincardine Golf & Country.
But not for long.
First, she had to zip off to Ohio for a one day qualifier for the US Amateur Championships.
Then tomorrow, she’ll land on the other side of the continent for the Canadian Amateur where she is a member of Team Ontario with with Augusta James and Erika Rivard.
The Canadian Amateur is a 4 day affair, unless one misses the cut, that features both team competition and individual stroke play
Schmidt, a Kincardine District Secondary School grad who has 2 years remaining at the University of Oklahoma, loves them and claims this is the life she hopes for.
Maybe as a professional golfer.
Maybe as a golf coach for an NCAA school.
Regardless, while baseball gets back to business today, Kincardine’s Taylor Schmidt hopes to putt her way to a National Golf title this weekend and far more beyond.
