It’s the All Star Break in Major League Baseball meaning the current sequence of days are the worst for sports coverage, because nothing of substance is taking place.
Wrong.
Certainly inaccurate from a local standpoint.
Let’s use soccer as an example.
Tonight in the York Region Soccer League, Division One play, the Owen Sound Strikers are scheduled to host Collingwood, the same Collingwood entry that eliminated Owen Sound 3-0 Saturday night in the Traginitis Cup playdown.
The Strikers, who have won 3 straight league games will be motivated to avenge the defeat to Collingwood and inch closer to the Collingwood side who sit 6 points up on Owen Sound in the standings.
Meanwhile looking ahead, the Collingwood Premier Division entry will be in Owen Sound Thursday night for a significant matchup with Grey Motors United.
The standings in the Premier Division as the week begins are exceptionally tight with just 3 points separating first place Newmarket Rangers and 5th place Orillia.
Both Grey Motors & Collingwood have 14 points, 2 back of the Rangers who are scheduled to be in Owen Sound on Friday night to meet Grey Motors.
Did I mention the annual Scenic City Cup Soccer event is also set for this weekend in Owen Sound ?
Not busy ?
Not when you look at the activities set for the Kiwanis Soccer Complex this week.
