The Owen Sound Attack had a lengthy and successful season last year, no question, going further than ever before, finishing just 3 days short of the dream destination.
For a month after the Attack were eliminated. the question I got asked almost every hour of every day, was how I was handling the slower pace, meaning no playoff hockey game every other night
But truthfully, when the Attack season ended, the pace actually picked up, simply because, while Owen Sound & area is relatively small, it’s also amazingly busy.
The ice stayed in at the Bayshore which meant the Woodsmen and NorthStars played the bulk of their early lacrosse games this season on the road, and then had a glut of home games, sometimes as many as 5 per week between them.
Then there were political dinners, major events and season ending events to factor into the equation; Cops for Cancer, Satellites Showcase, Kazarian Tournament to use a few examples.
And let’s not forget Hanover Raceway who bumped their race schedule up with 5 Wednesday cards this June in order to accommodate the pending construction of the Banquet Hall at the site coming in September.
There was big news in the town and at the track this week, with Hanover agreeing to back a $ 7 million dollar loan which now allows the raceway to secure a much better lending rate for the project which will total $ 12 million dollars once completed.
Did I mention Hanover Raceway has their 5th Wednesday Card of the season tonight ?
Post time is 7:20.
See you there.
I’m Fred Wallace
