A doctor is returning to Wiarton to set up shop.
Doctor Ken Uffen will move to the area and begin seeing patients September 5th with his old colleague Doctor Barker.
Doctor Uffen’s mother and uncle were born in Wiarton, and he first practiced family medicine here from 1978-1981.
Since then, he’s moved to Toronto and has worked as the Medical Director of Complex Care at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine.
Doctor Uffen says now that his two kids are in university, he is free to move back to the Bruce where he will rejoin Doctor Barker, and also work with Doctors Van Dorp, Lothstein, Grewell, Barrett and Grigg.
He says he’s also passionate about teaching, and hopes to have medical students and residents come learn and work in the Bruce Peninsula.
Anyone needing a family doctor can sign up beginning July 18th by calling Nancy Angel or staff at 519 534 2411.
