Somewhere during the Attack playoff series with Plymouth, the team had a meal the day before a game at nice Italian spot in Michigan.
The players ate in one room, while the coaches ate in another.
The coaches were joined by Paul MacLean, then an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings, who following the meal, addressed the Attack players briefly and reminded them to enjoy their success, but always keep their eye on the big prize.
Now Paul MacLean is the coach of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League.
And almost before MacLean could set up his office, speculation arose pertaining to Attack coach Mark Reeds, a personal friend, former teammate and coaching collegue of MacLean’s, linking the OHL coach of the year to the Senators as an assistant.
And maybe there’s truth to that.
If Mark Reeds wants this, I hope he gets it.
But as of this week, Reeds relates he’s been busy travelling thousands of miles in the United States, primarily to see his son, Kyle, graduate from Dartmouth University, and there’s been no discussion either way with the Senators about any job.
Monday, we’ll look at who makes this decision and how things might shake down for Mark Reeds and others
