Okay.
It’s time, finally, to talk about the Mastercard Memorial Cup at the Hershey Centre…………….
Ah, you know what happened.
Plus, I think by the my procrastination in speaking about it, you get the accurate impression that it wasn’t the best experience for me, personally or professionally.
Having said that, it really has no bearing to the organizing committee, the host Majors, the Canadian Hockey League or the Ontario Hockey League- they did their best.
There was just a sequence of activities I didn’t enjoy and if I’m lucky enough to cover a team at the CHL Championship Tournament, I know what I’ll watch for, and I’ll know what I’ll do differently.
Furthermore, the Mastercard Memorial Cup is old news by now.
In fact, last week, the schedule for the upcoming season for the Owen Sound Attack was released.
The season opens September 21st when Owen Sound hosts Plymouth.
The Attack are on the road two nights later at Guelph.
As you can guess, there are segments of the schedule that aren’t appealing. There are other segments of the schedule, that the team is excited about.
So, the puck drops in 3 months time and by then, the Mastercard Memorial Cup may be a distant memory.
I’m Fred Wallace
