I really should talk about the Mastercard Memorial Cup today…..but I think I’ll pass.
I will say, congratulations to the organizing committee, because as far as I could see, everything functioned smoothly.
The hockey, I think it’s best we leave that for another day.
So instead, as the transition and overlap of sports seasons continues, I want to do a quick reminder regarding the Wednesday series of racing at Hanover Raceway.
This is a very different year for Hanover Raceway, exemplified first by the fact the ” Summer Series ” begins tomorrow night, a full month earlier than most years for the Wednesday night events.
In a nutshell, there is a major construction project at Hanover, the building of a huge community hall, set for the Fall, and as a result it’s cut into the normal length of the race season.
As I understand it, Hanover Raceway is allotted a certain number of race dates. Since construction will prevent 5 of those dates from occurring where they’d normally be staged, those dates have been shifted, for this year only, into the month of June on Wednesdays.
So instead of July 1st, it’s June 1st when Hanover Raceway has their Fan Appreciation night with a 7:20 pm post time, the first of 14 straight Wednesday nights at the track.
