There’s a birthday party today.
In Meaford.
A big party this afternoon for Charlie MacDonald’s 80th, being staged at the MacDonald’s Countrywide Furniture location off Highway 26.
Certainly Charlie is a well known resident and businessman in Meaford and the surrounding region, but for a large number of people, he remains one of the most notable hockey players to ever play in our area.
Once, my mother was quite upset with my father, because they went shopping at MacDonald’s and all my Dad & Charlie did was talk hockey, paying precious little attention to the shopping task at hand.
And there’s no question, yesterday, today & tomorrow, hockey heritage lives in the heart of Charlie MacDonald,
Like the vivid memories of the 1958 Senior Hockey Championship series between Meaford & Collingwood.
