Among the best passages in Tom Cheek’s ” Road to Glory “, and one of my favorite sports broadcasting stories of all time, came from the 1992 World Series clinching game at Atlanta.
Cheek and his partner Jerry Howarth had a set schedule of who called which inning and with the Jays leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 11th, based on the rotation, it was Howarth’s turn at the microphone.
A few years ago, Jerry Howarth was on Bayshore Broadcasting, and he explained how Tom Cheek ended up calling the historic World Series clinching moment in 1992.
