The Hanover community is in mourning after the death of a popular doctor.
66 year old Doctor Paul Eisenbarth has passed away.
He is the former Chief of the Hanover Emergency Department.
Colleague Doctor Tim Heerema says Doctor Eisenbarth will be remembered best for his compassion at both the local and global level.
Along with his love of medicine — Eisenbarth was a strong advocate for peace and worked tirelessly in the anti nuclear movement for many years.
In 1985 he was among a select group of physicians to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts through ‘Physician for Global Survival’ and ‘International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.’
Doctor Eisenbarth was also committed to the issues of the Inuit and spent time practicing medicine in the far north including Nunavut and the Baffin Region.
Along with his family — Doctor Eisenbarth leaves behind a rich legacy filled with accomplishments and great achievements.
Doctor Paul Eisenbarth was born in New Jersey and came to Canada in 1970.
He began his work in Hanover in 1999.
