The United Way of Bruce Grey in partnership with Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound is hosting the Second Annual Awards Night at the Movies at 7:30 PM tonight.
Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says Awards Night was created to support the United Way’s Backpack Program, and is quickly becoming a marquee event for the region.
Dobbyn adds this is a one of a kind event, as they are the only charity in Canada with permission from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to showcase the Oscars on the big screen.
She says upon arrival at Awards Night, guests can walk the red carpet, get photographed by the papparazzi and be interviewed.
Through the course of the evening, event host J.D. Moffat of Bayshore Broadcasting will feature movie trivia, interviews and updates on the silent auction.
John Mulder of Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound says there is no better event for them to get behind, because great movies are what they’re all about.
Tickets are only 25 dollars, and 80 per cent of that goes to the United Way’s Backpack Program to purchase school supplies for underprivileged kids.
Only 170 tickets are available, and you can get yours by going to the Galaxy Cinema or by calling the United Way of Bruce Grey at 519-376-1560.
