The 2011 Dominion Tankard is less than 2 weeks away!!
The events 175 volunteers are busy making final preparations to welcome the best curlers to the Ontario Mens Curling Championship being held February 7 to 13, 2011.
Everyone is well aware that the world renowned Team Howard squad will be participating as Team Ontario but we now have the other 10 teams from zone and regional play downs and last weekends east and west challenge rounds completing the field vying for the title.
The full field is as follows:

Region 1 Greg Balsdon, Loonie C.C. and Chris Gardner, Renfrew C.C.
Region 2 John Epping, Donalda C.C. and Mark Kean, Annandale Country Club
Region 3 Peter Corner, Brampton C.C. and Dale Matchett, Bradford & District C.C.
Region 4 Mark Bice, Sarnia Golf & Curling Club and Nick Rizzo, Brantford Golf & C.C.
Challenge Rounds Jake Higgs, Harriston C.C. and Howard Rajala, Rideau C.C.
Team Howard is expected to have his hands full with the strong field of experienced teams and some new wave teams the will certainly make an impact.
Ticket sales are picking up so the only thing left to do is fill the arena and start the party. Full event passes are on sale via the website at www.grimsbytankard2011.com.
At $120 for the side seats and $150 for the away end seats you get a full week of entertainment including 11 round robin draws and 4 play-offs draws on the final weekend.
Single game and mini-pack tickets are available by printing the form off the website and mailing it in with cheque to the address provided. All of these will be shut down around the end of January so time is short to get yours! After that, full event, mini-pack and single game tickets can be purchase at the event.
Event plans include the construction of home and away bleacher seating to bring the arena capacity to just under 1,000; a 20 x 15 jumbotron projection screen in the arena; pre game on ice entertainment; an audio-visual extravaganza to parade in the teams each game; Peter and Paula Peach keeping the arena lively; great post game entertainment in the Peach Pit lounge that will hold about 200 at capacity; a Fergie Jenkins day, a Team Howard day, a Past
Champions dayand much more!
