There’s no Scrooge in Owen Sound when it comes to the Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign.
Just last week — the organization was 40 thousand dollars behind their 67 thousand dollar goal, and now the amount they need to raise has been cut in half.
Alice Wannan — a Salvation Army Spokesperson — says they’re a little more than 20 thousand dollars away from reaching their Christmas goal.
That number includes every kettle collection except those taken on Tuesday, which are currently being counted.
The kettles will be out in Owen Sound until 3 PM on Christmas Eve.
They’re stationed at five places within the community including Zehrs, the Heritage Place Mall, WalMart, the Liquor store on the east side of Owen Sound and No Frills on the west hill.
Wannan notes the money raised goes towards the Christmas Hampers and the Salvation Army’s budget — a majority of which supports Owen Sound’s food bank.
Wannan stresses there is still time for you to receive support by visiting their 2nd Avenue East location or calling their offices at 371 – 0957.
The same goes for those of you who want to donate — if you can’t make it to the kettles, stop by the office or their church office on 14th Street West.
