After three years — the Brockton Medical Clinic is nearing completion.
Staff will be able to move into the building this week.
Fundraising Chair Maurice Donnelly says he can’t think of a better Christmas gift for the community.
95 per cent of the two million dollar fundraising goal has been reached — as 1.89 million has been raised to date.
And Donnelly is confident the fundraising goal will be met — but he admits the last three years have been tough.
Donnelly says fundraising during a recession was an uphill battle — and he notes Brockton doesn’t have a P&H Foods or WesCast to rely on for big donations.
But Donnelly notes the local businesses, service clubs and residents have been generous.
The new medical clinic is located on the Walkerton Hospital grounds on site of the old nurses residence.
The seven thousand square foot clinic will house the Brockton and Area Health Team and boasts enough space accommodate 8 doctors.
Donnelly is hopeful the new clinic will serve as a draw for new physicians looking for a turn key operation to begin their practice.
