It’s a very big Friday for sports in and about Owen Sound today
Of course the highlight event is the Bluewater Football Championship which will be conducted this afternoon at Victoria Park in Owen Sound.
After years of being hosted at Port Elgin by the perennial powerhouse Saugeen District Royals, the St Mary’s Mustangs of Owen Sound will be the host school for the championship this year.
The Mustangs beat the Royals in the regular season, part of a perfect regular season, which gives them home field advantage against the multiple defending champion Saugeen District Royals today.
Also today, and running through the weekend, is the final major tournament weekend for the Owen Sound Minor Hockey group.
The annual Silver Stick Qualifier for Minor Atom, Minor Peewee & Minor bantam teams runs today through Sunday at both the Coliseum & the Bayshore.
The 3 Championship Finals commence Sunday afternoon at noon and run through the afternoon.
And tonight, outside of the city, and the province & country for that matter, the Owen Sound Attack are at Erie to meet the Otters.
The Attack lead the MidWest Division, the Otters are last and the annual doubleheader in Erie this weekend gives Owen Sound a chance to virtually bury the Otters before Remembrance Day
