There are lots of items to discuss today; the CFL is seeking Federal Financing for the 100th Grey Cup, that Leaf game last night with Montreal and the pleasantly surprising Owen Sound Attack are off for a Conference game tonight at Sarnia.
But in truth, I’m thinking about tomorrow, and not just because it’s Thanksgiving Weekend.
Instead, tomorrow marks another reminder the seasons are changing, as Hanover Raceway stages their final card for 2010 with a 1:30 pm post time.
By and large it’s been a good to terrific season for the track on a variety of levels.
From a competitive standpoint. in one amazing sequence of 3 race cards this summer, a track record was established each night.
Sometimes, Hanover marks stand for years. This year one track record barely got posted before it was bettered.
From the attendance and betting handle perspective, the numbers are up and the signature event, the ” Dream of Glory Final ” with its fireworks show, continues to attract thousands.
And finally, from the outside in, I’ve had people who see harness racing around the province and around North America, tell me that for a relatively small track & operation, Hanover Raceway does things right.
Which is good to hear, especially with the 2010 season about to end.
I’m Fred Wallace
