The Western Ontario Senior Hockey League season begins in about 10 days and a variety of teams have taken a step forward in terms of bolstering their lineup.
Among the clubs adding prominent names are the Walkerton Capitals.
The Capitals are coming off a season in which they went 4-15 & 1, but from a publicity standpoint, they have led the league with the signing of Nathan Perrott.
Perrott signed up for a conditioning stint with the Capitals last year as he was attempting to return to pro hockey, and if memory serves, he was an integral factor in a Walkerton shootout victory.
Regardless, Perrott, an Owen Sound Minor Hockey grad, departed Walkerton and played in the CHL with the Texas Brahmas were he played 31 games, scoring 3 goals and accumulating more than 100 minutes in penalties.
Now, a little less than a year later, Perrott, who had NHL stops in Nashville, Toronto & Dallas, has returned to the region and with a post pro hockey career in front of him, but as well, he will continue to play hockey for the Caps.
In Walkerton, and around the WOAA, this is fairly significant news and one of many reasons, many centres are excited about the WOAA season that begins a week from Friday.
