The National Football League season opens tonight in New Orleans as the defending Super Bowl Champion Saints play host to the Minnesota Vikings.
You’ve got to hand it to the NFL, by design moreso than by pure happenstance, they manage to launch the season with a spotlight game and feature two teams with intriguing storylines.
When last seen, the Saints were celebrating Super Bowl XLIV, dropping the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
The storyline, quite obviously, can they do it again ?
Minnesota’s story, starts and ends with the triumphant return, yet again, of quarterback Brett Favre.
After a marvellous season a year ago with Minnesota, Favre, as has become tradition, entered a cloud of mystery as to whether he would, or wouldn’t return.
He’s back, and so is the NFL, who will manufacture weekly mini dramas that would make ” The Young & the Restless ” envious from tonight through Super Bowl XLV on February 6th at Cowboys Stadium.
