This could very well be the most significant week of the competitive soccer season here in Owen Sound.
Both the Owen Sound Grey Motors United in the Premier League of the York Region Soccer League and the Owen Sound Grey Motors Strikers from Division One have semifinal playoff games.
Tomorrow night in the Premier Division Grey Motors United will host Orillia SC in a semifinal match set for 9 pm at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
Then Saturday afternoon, the Grey Motors Strikers will host the Bradford Eagles United in a Division One semifinal set for 5 pm at the Kiwanis Complex.
While Owen Sound will have home field advantage, the question exists, do they have a competitive advantage.
United finished second in the Premier Division and advanced to the semifinal when Barrie failed to show for the quarterfinal match.
Similarly, the Grey Motors Strikers advanced to the Division One semifinal when Orillia, who at least had the decency to call, informed Owen Sound they would not be coming for that quarterfinal match.
Regardless, whether the Grey Motors teams are rusty or rested, in front of them are two significant soccer matches and a chance for the Owen Sound programs to advance two teams into their respective York Region Championship Games.
