The first ever Bruce Peninsula Rodeo is set to take to the ring this weekend in Wiarton.
Organizer Melanie Gilbert says the idea stems from five local families who have members that compete in rodeos.
Gilbert says the thought was to bring people closer to home to see what the rodeo is all about.
She adds there will be people from across the province and Quebec attending the rodeo competing in everything from steer wrestling to barrel racing.
Gilbert and her committee of about ten will be donating all the proceeds from the rodeo back into community groups.
Gilbert is quick to add even though it is a rodeo it is important to remember those organizing and participating are animal lovers — and the best care possible is given to all animals taking part.
Saturday marks the main rodeo competitions at 2 PM, then an overflow performance of the rodeo will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM.
There will also be a beef dinner and comedian on Saturday night.
The event runs at the Wiarton Rodeo Grounds, off Boat Lake Road, south of Wiarton.
Tickets are available at various locations throughout Grey and Bruce including Roberts Farm Equipment , Bayshore Feeds, Mr Beer and Frosty Freeze.
