The trading of Myles Doan by the Owen Sound Attack to the Niagara Ice Dogs of the OHL brings me to a point of operation I wish the Attack would officially adopt and publicly announce.
The policy I’d like to see enforced; never trade our top players- EVER.
Owen Sound got the picks we used to select Myles Doan & Matt Krug from Sault Ste Marie & Kitchener, so in essence, the Attack dealt Wayne Simmonds & Scott Tregunna away for ” futures “, draft picks. that turned into Doan and Krug & returned a total of 13 goals over the next two years.
In fairness, there were additional bits to those deals, in fact, Garrett Wilson may have come out of the mix somewhere in that conglomeration of players and picks and shuffles.
But…….
Actually, take Owen Sound right of the picture.
Did Sarnia do well in the Danny Fritsche deal ?
How about Guelph when they shed Adam Dennis & Dan Girardi ?
Are the Petes happy about the return on Daniel Ryder & Steve Downie ?
There’s too many examples were the poor sell to the rich and don’t harvest exceptional riches in return.
Furthermore, any day now a blogger, a dreamer, a media personality with ” sources “, or just one of the bozos on the internet will proclaim Owen Sound will dispatch a star for future considerations.
For public consumption, and the benefit of their own fans, it behoves the Attack as an organization to publicly announce, and quickly, they will NOT trade a Wilson, a Stajcer, a Hishon, a Shipley, etc, now, nor in the future.
