Kippers End of Season Celebrations
On Thursday, August 12, the Kincardine Kippers held their awards night recognizing the achievements of their outstanding swimmers. The Kincardine Kippers have concluded a successful season complete with a record breaking swims by Steve Young, many personal bests among other team members and exceptional instruction from new head coach Kristin Beaton. With Beaton at the helm, along with other seasoned long time coaches including team president Dave Kohut, team members advanced their skills and forged new friendships during their hours in the pool. Special thanks to all the coaches for donating their time and contributing to the success of these swimmers.
Aside from the ribbons and medals won at the SWORSA finals, several swimmers won awards that were chosen by their coaches and teammates.
Virat Tripathi and Emily Martens-Oberwelland won the Beta Sigma Phi Award for most improved swimmers. Alexandra Jaszkul won the Emma Johnstone Memorial Award for love of swimming. Bryce McDiarmid and Will Cunningham were presented with the Peter Dingle Award for team spirit and sportsmanship. Rachel Scheel and Robert McGregor won the B.A. Eggleton award, chosen by their teammates.
Winning overall division medals for their age groups were Steve Young, Caden Allingham, Alex Morariu, David Allingham, Virat Tripathi, Carter Urie, Derek Urie, Robert McGregor, Samantha Eby, Rachel Scheel, Bryce McDiarmid, Chelsea Fuller, Christina Lucas and Emily Killin.
Finally winning the boys overall trophy were Steve Young, Caden Allingham, Alex Morariu, David Allingham, Matthew Woodhall, Jared Allingham, Aidan Lucas, Taylor Casciano, Virat Tripathi, Will Cunningham, Carter Urie, Derek Urie, James Adams and Robert McGregor.
