There certainly isn’t a lack of interest in the soon-to-be vacant mayor’s chair in Arran Elderslie.
As was announced on Bayshore Broadcasting News back in January of this year, current Arran Elderslie Mayor Ron Oswald is retiring from politics.
He said then he was making his announcement to allow people to think about running for the position in this year’s municipal election.
Councillor Paul Eagleson of Tara has let his name stand, along with former Arran Elderslie mayor John Alpaugh of Dobbinton and William Tooke of Paisley.
Eagleson has been a former warden of Bruce County and a reeve before becoming a councillor.
Alpaugh was mayor of the municipality before being defeated by Ron Oswald.
Tooke has run in the past for council but was not elected.
