By the end of the season, the Owen Sound Selects Fastball program could write a summer travel brochure highlighting the Maritimes and the East Coast of Canada.
The Brick Brothers Volkswagen Junior Selects will be at the Canadian Junior Championship Tournament beginning August 2nd in St Croix, Nova Scotia.
Brick Brothers won the right to advance to the Nationals after claiming the Ontario title last weekend at Cobourg.
It’s funny, but after hosting the Canadian Championship tournament the past two years in Owen Sound, Brick Brothers might have a better chance to win it in the East.
Meanwhile, the Owen Sound Volkswagen Midget Selects will compete in Newfoundland at the Eastern Canadian Midget Championship Tournament.
In truth, this is almost a disappointment for the Midget Selects who went to the Nationals last year at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, but failed in their attempt to return to the Canadian Championships this year at Stratford.
Nevertheless, the Eastern Canadians should be an excellent experience for a mostly local squad who serve as the feeder group to the Juniors and later the Senior Selects programs.
Finally, the Verge Investment Senior Selects will also bid to go East this year for the Canadian Men’s Championship at Charlottetown.
The Ontario Championship is later this month at Waterloo, and if successful, the Verge Selects could make it 3 for 3 as far as Owen Sound Selects teams going to major fastball events in Eastern Canada.
