A warm week with some hot games for Owen Sound sporting teams in various leagues.
Both the Owen Sound Grey Motors United of the York Region Soccer League and the Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen of the OLA Senior Lacrosse League are playing catchup, trying to catch the leaders in their respective divisions.
The beauty is that both Owen Sound entries get a head to head shot at the leaders of their respective sports this week.
Tomorrow night in Owen Sound, Grey Motors United will face Collingwood United in Premier Division Soccer.
Collingwood has had a tremendous season, going unbeaten in their first 8 starts this year and holding a comfortable margin over Grey Motors for first place in the division.
The game Thursday night is an 8:30 start at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
Meanwhile on Saturday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center, the van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen meet the OLA Senior leaders the Norwood Champs.
Norwood’s first place standing has been achieved by successive victories over the defending President’s Cup Champion Woodsmen, including that unbelievable come-from-behind win in Owen Sound in late May, when the Woodsmen caved on a 9-0 lead.
Game time Saturday for Norwood & the Woodies is 8 pm
First place, or a shot at first place, are on the line this week for the Owen Sound Soccer and Lacrosse teams.
