Usually in this segment, I look back at the weekend and talk about the best aspect of Saturday & Sunday.
Today, even though I didn’t see it, you have to know the weekend held great meaning for Barb Downey of the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group.
At the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Meeting, Barb was awarded the Patricia Hartley Administrators Award which is presented in recognition of exemplary service in the field of sports administration.
Recipients are selected for outstanding leadership within their association, commitment to the organization and overall involvement in minor hockey.
Do we have enough time to list all of the events and activities that Barb Downey has been integral to in the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group ?
No we don’t…..
But since 1980, the truest statement you could ever utter about Owen Sound Minor Hockey is that Barb Downey was there, & is there.
Secretary, President, Ice scheduler, Friends of Minor Hockey & Past President are a few of the positions she’s held.
Plus, Barb arranges the monthly Minor Hockey meeting from almost every angle with great precision.
Of course, Minor Hockey doesn’t monopolize Barb, she also needs time for Big Sisters, the OASA, Special Olympics, the Figure Skating Club & Knox United Church.
Congratulations to Barb Downey on the Patricia Hartley Administrators Award.
From Minor Hockey’s standpoint, they know Barb was always there, is there and will be there forever.
