Well, who saw this coming ?
Eight days ago in Elora, the Owen Sound Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars had a shot at bridging the gap and making a solid challenge for first place in the always tough MidWest Division in Junior B Lacrosse.
Just over a week later, first place is out of the question for the NorthStars and suddenly their focus is on the pack around them, and maybe, to an extent, also on those behind them.
Tonight at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center, the NorthStars have a HUGE game against the Orangeville Northmen.
The two division rivals played to a 7-7 tie two weeks ago in Owen Sound and since then, Orangeville has moved up the standings, while the NorthStars have quickly dropped 3 straight and are now tied with the Northmen for 5th in the Conference standings.
The top 8 clubs make the post season.
Elora, Six Nations & Windsor will take the top 3 spots, leaving the NorthStars & Northmen trying to advance against, or fend off, Welland, Oakville & the Spartans.
Only Hamilton is out of the Junior B playoff picture mathematically, but in truth, tonight’s Owen Sound-Orangeville game could go a long way in determining who ends up where.
Game time is 8 pm at the J.D. McArthur Arena
I’m Fred Wallace
