Meaford is planning to hold a workshop for people interested in running in this year’s municipal elections.
It scheduled for June 17th at 7 PM at the Meaford Hall.
It is open to all Grey Bruce residents who are thinking of running for a spot on a municipal council or the school board.
Mayor Francis Richardson says the workshop is an initiative of Meaford staff.
He says there are always questions, particularly in an election year, regarding what elected officials are able to do.
The hope is that a workshop will help to answer those questions.
If enough people register for the workshop by Monday, June 7th — the Ministry of Municipal Affairs will have a representative there.
The staff person will provide information on the role of elected officials and to discuss the Municipal Elections Act, election finances, key dates and more.
People are asked to register by contacting Meaford deputy clerk Pam Fettes at 519-538-1060 ext. 1115 or executive assistant Deborah Van Landuyt at ext. 1100, or send an e-mail to elections@meaford.ca
