Celebrating Veterans is something that should not just occur on Remembrance Day — but year round.
That is the thought behind a new exhibit at the historic Billy Bishop Home and Museum in Owen Sound.
Veteran Commemoration Day and the “Leave No Man Behind” exhibit opened today.
The official opening ceremony started at 11 AM after a short parade involving local veterans.
Mindy Gill — the Curator of Collections at the Museum — says the exhibit focuses on the personal stories of those that were wounded, killed or taken prisoner during the First and Second World War.
Gill says there are several personal stories and artifacts from Grey Bruce residents.
This year is the 65th anniversary of V-E day and Gill says that is one of the reasons why they have decided on this exhibit.
