It’s a musical fairwell featuring the talents of one celebrated young violinist.
Sabrina Perry is a senior student at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound and will be hosting her first solo concert tonight.
The concert is being held at the First United Church in Owen Sound and features her two favourite types of music — classical violin and fiddle.
Called “Sabrina Perry – Violin versus Fiddle” – Perry says its a collaboration of all of her years of music study in the city.
Perry has been playing for 15 years and has played with the Georgian Bay Symphony – quartets – pit bands and the kiwanis festivals.
Perry says the concert itself will feature her playing Concerto number one in G minor by Max Bruch as well as Bach Sonata number 2 Andante as well as several show pieces.
Then Perry says it will turn to more fiddle type style playing in the second half with Old time Canadian pieces – Irish – Cape Breton and Quebecois pieces.
Perry says it is because of her love of both classical and fiddle that she is able to be such a well rounded musician.
Perry adds there are so many opportunities for youth in Grey and Bruce to foster their love and talent in music and is proud to be a resident of the area.
Admission is by donation and the concert starts at 7:30 PM.
Perry leaves in the fall for university to attend Memorial University to study music.
