It’s hard to believe it is the first ever Midwestern Ontario Sportsmen Show going in this weekend as this area is a hub for anglers and hunters.
The Walkerton Kinsmen club is hosting the event that begins today and continues Saturday and Sunday at the Walkerton Community Centre.
Organizer Brian Nogler says the Kinsmen has been looking into holding the show for about four years now and when they realized many people were heading to London and Toronto to attend the sportsmen shows there.
The Kinsmen realized we live in the hub for anglers and hunters with the trails – lakes and natural setting so holding a sportsmen show here would be a natural fit.
Nogler says this was a good time to hold the show as it’s a window of opportunity between now and early fall when outdoor lovers have a chance to take in the show.
Nogler says the event is already popular with the entire community centre both inside and outside booked with exhibitors.
The exhibitors features everything from hunting to boats – fishing to camping – the show has something for every outdoor enthusiast.
The show runs Friday from 4 PM until 9 PM, Saturday from 9 AM until 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM until 4 PM.
Admission is 8 dollars for adults, juniors are 5 dollars and children 6 and under are free.
There are also family passes available.
Nogler recommends visiting www.midwesternontario.com to get a complete lineup of all the exhibitors, demonstrations and seminars being offered.
