Warm temperatures covered much of Ontario during May and several records were set for the average temperatures in the month.
Environment Canada says the mean temperature in many locations came in two to three degrees above normal.
Wiarton had a mean temperature of 13.3 degrees… that was 3.2 degrees higher than normal.
And weather officials say it was the third warmest May on record in Wiarton.
By comparison, Toronto had a mean temperature of 16.0 degrees, which was also about 3 degrees above normal.
The highest temperature recorded in May in Wiarton was 28.1 degrees. The previous record was 27.6 set back in 2007.
The temperature wasn’t the only thing with larger numbers in May.
Environment Canada says there was 140 mms of precipitation in the Gateway town. That number is way up from the normal of 80 mms.
Wiarton’s numbers are amongst the highest in Ontario precipitation wise.
