The Hanover and District Hospital has received a one time funding grant of 309 thousand dollars.
The Wait Time Strategy funding is designed to reduce wait times for surgeries.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Reta Sproule says this will allow the Hanover Hospital to increase the number of surgeries performed this year.
290 thousand has been allocated for adult general surgery, 11 thousand for pediatric dental surgery, 7 thousand 8 hundred for pediatric ear, nose and throat surgery and 900 dollars for pediatric general surgery.
Sproule says this is a real boost to the hospital and the Operating Room.
She says its not that the Hospital had long wait times, but rather that it has the capabilities of increasing its OR volumes.
Sproule says the money will be used to maximize the Operating Room by increasing surgery volumes.
Theres even the opportunity to bring in patients from outside the region for surgeries.
