Saugeen Shores is getting another family doctor.
Town council has approved a bylaw, setting up an agreement with Doctor Jessica Leung, currently practicing in British Columbia.
Saugeen Shores CAO Larry Allison says Doctor Leung will be setting up her practice this fall.
Allison says the doctor will be visiting the area for several weeks this summer to get an idea of the area she is about to serve.
Doctor Leung is coming to this area because of a broadcast e-mail that was sent out by the town doctor recruitment committee about six months ago.
The e-mail asked physicians to consider the Saugeen Shores area if they were thinking of re-locating.
Allison says now the town has to find space for the doctor.
Both medical buildings in Port Elgin and Southampton are full and some arrangements will have to be worked out so that Dr. Leung has an office in which to work.
Doctor Leung will also commence a number of scheduled shifts in the Emergency Room at Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton beginning early next year.
