More changes to the way garbage will be picked up in South Bruce Peninsula.
Council officially approved a full garbage bag tag system at Tuesday nights council meeting.
Starting September 1st — all garbage bags will require a dollar 50 bag tag with a maximum of three garbage bags per household..
Also, Council approved a plan which allows apartment buildings to set out a maximum of 10 garbage bags.
Councillor Yvonne Harron says all bags must have a bag tag on them and the apartment building owner must provide recycling bins for all units.
Harron says that change will come into affect immediately, instead of on September 1st.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says previously apartment buildings were only allowed 3 bags per building and that created some difficulty.
Councillor and Member of the Waste Management Committee Dan Kerr says he is pleased they have finally gone to a full bag tag system.
Currently the towns landfill site has about 10 years left before it is full.
Kerr says he predicts the full bag tags will give them another five or six years on the landfill life expectancy.
The vote passed by a narrow 5-4.
Councillor Betty Hall, who voted against the motion, said at the meeting that she has never received so many calls from tax payers on one issue.
Hall stated council is there to represent the people, and constituents are saying they dont want a full bag tag system.
