About 100 trees in the Skinners Bluff conservation area in Georgian Bluffs have been damaged.
The area is situated east of Wiarton and north of Lake Charges on Centre Road.
It borders the escarpment to the north so access is normally gained by hikers on the Bruce Trail — and like all conservation areas, the use of motor vehicles is banned.
The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority has asked Grey County OPP to investigate.
Police believe someone with large four wheel drive trucks or SUV’s drove into the area sometime over the last month.
They caused large ruts and damaged dozens of pine trees that were planted six years ago and had grown to six feet tall and up to 2 inches in diameter.
So Police say there is no doubt they were deliberately destroyed.
The cost to replant the trees is estimated to be close to 15 hundred dollars.
Anyone with information is asked to call Grey County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
