After a few delays — officials are hoping construction of the new Owen Sound family health clinic can begin within the next month or so.
Family Health Team Physician Doctor Cam Tweedie says there have been some delays on the developer’s end with geo-tech studies which have pushed them back by a couple of months.
He says the team is currently finalizing lease agreements to rent the building from the developers when its complete while the developer puts the final touches to the site plan and design.
Doctor Tweedie says with construction expected to take about 12 to 13 months — they’re hoping for an opening date of next June or July.
The 15 million dollar medical clinic will finally allow the Owen Sound Family Health Team to be housed under one roof providing space for 18 doctors as well as other health professionals including nurses, dietitians and a pharmacist.
Its being built on the west harbourfront north of the Marine Rail Museum.
The developer will own the building and lease it out to the Family Health Team.
The second phase of the plan includes some retail or restaurant space.
