Good news from Ottawa for the Durham area.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller has announced 925 thousand dollars in funding for the local Medical clinic.
925 thousand dollars is set aside by the Federal government under it’s “Economic Action Plan” to pay for 50 percent of an expansion to the Durham Medical clinic.
In total, the project is worth 1.85 million dollars with the Durham and Community healthcare Foundation responsible for the other half of the cost of the development.
Chair Steve Field says that cost will be paid for over a number of years, but he is confident the rent they receive from the doctors in the clinic, and from the Brockton area health team will cover that off.
The size of the clinic will increase by about 95 hundred square feet, basically doubling the size of the facility.
Field wants the public to understand that the Foundation fund-raising is completely separate from an expansion to the clinic.
Last year, they raised money for a new X-ray machine, and this year’s fund raising involves a new ECG machine for the hospital.
